2019 Yamaha YZF-R3 – On the road

Yamaha’s 2019 Yamaha YZF-R3 has been given a make-over and while there’s no capacity increase – despite the move by Kawasaki to a 399cc with their Ninja – there’s plenty to talk about. Styling has been updated, with a sharper headlight and front fairing setup that brings the bike closer to the R6 and R1 models, without quite managing to offer the same incredibly low profile headlights.

Yamaha didn’t stop there however, there’s also a redesigned tank which moves the tank lower and allows an easier grip between the ‘pegs and tank with your knees, and this is joined by 22mm lower ‘bars, which are still somewhere between a full racer crouch and an upright nakedbike. With that said there’s more room for larger riders to tuck in, and the R3 retains that nice mix of full bike feel with lightweight and manageable beginner machine.

Suspension is also updated with a set of 37mm USD KYB forks gracing the front end, offering a significantly sportier and stiffer feel for improved front end feel, not to mention an even more track orientated setup. The rear shock is likewise revised with a stiffer spring to match the front end.

The 2019 Yamaha YZF-R3 also features a new LCD display, which offers a simple but clear display of all the relevant information at a glance.
