Triumph’s Speed Triple is an iconic motorcycle, and from the first time I saw one in Orange I knew I wanted one. Blacked out engine, dark frame, orange paintwork and the round headlights made for a distinct nakedbike.
I probably should have gone for the Street Triple R, which was available in a similar colour scheme, but the single-sided swingarm and awesome exposed rear wheel were a winner in my mind.
There’s no doubt that Triumph have made big steps forward with the Speed Triple since, although changes to headlight design have always been controversial, and while I’m a fan of the original round headlights, the newest teardrop iteration is, to me at least, on par with the originals.
I purchased this 2008 Speed Triple second hand with the Arrow dual undertail exhausts already fitted.
