With small capacity machines an ideal choice for new riders, those after an extra machine, or just those who love the idea of putting their skills to the test on a machine they can totally master, options like the Honda Grom have become a mainstream option, especially with the customisation and fun factor of the Grom.
But Yamaha’s R15 offers many of the advantages for a very similar price, and while lacking the same level of aftermarket support, customisation options and cult-like status, there’s lots of reasons to consider the R15 V3 as an alternative, especially if you’re after more performance and a more all round motorcycle.
So is the Yamaha R15 V4 a Grom killer? Probably not, the Grom certainly fits the bill as the ultimate fun bike, but the R15 V3 offers a great package for those after something a bit more serious, with more performance, more tech, higher specs, and sitting much closer to a full bike feel. Here’s a look at how the two stack up.
