With an update to Yamaha’s YZF-R3 in 2019, following the release of the new Kawasaki Ninja 400 in 2018, I take a look at these two iconic learner sportsbikes to see just how the two compare.
Despite the noticeable difference in capacity between the two machines, with the 321cc Yamaha R3 having to face down the Ninja 400’s 399cc powerplant, the two machines offer a well-matched comparison, with the Kawasaki’s torque advantage matched by Yamaha’s incredibly smooth offset-cylinder 180-degree crank.
